Calle Liceo is a cute little side street of Calle Rocafuerte, the main street of the Loma Grande (=Big Hill) neighbourhood. The Loma Grande is a residential area with many little shops and restaurants. Direct under Casa Liceo you’ll see sports centrum Cumandá and Calle La Ronda with many restaurants and live music and dance acts in the weekends.
Through Calle Rocafuerte you'll reach Plaza Santo Domingo and the main monuments of the town within minutes without much climbing or descending. On the right side of this site you see a picture of Quito in the Inca period. Modern places of interest are indicated in blue. By clicking on this picture you will enlarge it.
Cabs are cheap and good.
On Plaza Santo Domingo. you'll find a stop of the fast troley bus system (Trole) that crosses Quito from north to south every few minutes for only $0.25. Down hill is a La Marin bus station that also offers good service. But...from La Marin back home you'll have to climb the Loma!
